The European Compendium of Dementia-Friendly Cultural Practices has been published as part of the Memorable project. It brings together insights from research, expert interviews, and practical experiences across Europe. It highlights how cultural participation can enhance well-being, strengthen identity, and foster inclusion for people living with dementia, while also creating shared experiences that benefit families, carers, and cultural professionals.
In addition to emphasising the value of creative engagement, the publication considers the practical aspects of making cultural life more accessible. It explores the knowledge and skills needed by carers, volunteers, artists, and staff, the supportive structures that can reduce barriers, and the policy measures that encourage more inclusive cultural spaces.
By combining challenges, learning needs, and examples of promising practice, the compendium invites reflection and offers inspiration for those working in adult education, care, and culture.
The compendium is available in all partner languages here.
