The Memorable project presented during a training for museum specialists

On November 19, 2025, a practical training for museum specialists on the topic “Heritage with care – cultural memory for people with dementia” was held at the Regional Ethnographic Open Air Museum “Etar” – Gabrovo. The event was part of the Alzheimer Bulgaria Association’s project with the same name, implemented in close partnership with the museum.

During the event, specialists from ABA presented the main directions of their work, including the current results of the Memorable project, as well as the upcoming developments in it. The training included thematic sessions dedicated to different approaches to working with vulnerable visitors, effective communication techniques, the use of sensory and memory tools, as well as international good practices for adapting the museum environment and working with people with dementia in cultural institutions.

Museum specialists from Gabrovo and the region took part in the initiative, who had the opportunity to exchange experience, discuss real situations from their practice and get new ideas for their work. The anonymous survey conducted after the training reported a high degree of satisfaction with the content, organisation and practical applicability of the presented modules.

The meeting was an opportunity to connect with stakeholders for the Memorable project, which will be valuable for both the work on the project objectives and the dissemination of future results.

The project “Heritage with care – cultural memory for people with dementia” is funded by The Headley Southeast Europe Cultural Heritage Fund.
